My Pink Sunflower
Friday, August 8, 2008 at 10:43AM I walk through the Valley of Darkness
Mountainous gargoyles upon me press
Alone like the wolf howling at the moon
My life framed by teardrops and wounds
Through my soul the cruel wind knifes
Emptiness has turned my heart to ice
My forlorn dreams barren as salted ground
I cannot run because Death is all around
The dark gray sky is a funeral shroud
Hope is trapped behind a sinister cloud
Suddenly a golden shaft of sunlight
Leaps through a tear in the leaden sky
Welcoming rays the Life Giver delivers
Illuminating a blazing field of sunflowers
Shimmering like an oasis in a spiritual void
Beckoning; an alluring siren I cannot avoid
Warm as yellow, the petals a sea of saffron
Like a million happy sunlit faces of children
Reaching ever higher toward the eternal fire
Dancing with ecstasy, joy, and mad desire
The caress of butterfly wings is gentle
Upon a Pink Sunflower's sensuous petals
How unusual! How unique! How magical!
This Pink is Creation's mesmerizing pinnacle!
More beautiful than all the yellow millions
The most special flower in life's grand cotillion
Every leaf radiating happiness, joy, and release
Every dewdrop glistening tranquility and peace
Exploding upon life's dark, cold emptiness
A Pink kaleidoscope of passion and purpose
I reach out to touch the soft Pink Sunflower
My world is transformed by its subtle power
Unending darkness is washed away by light
The gargoyles of Death recede into the night
The lonely wolf has become in my heart
A warm, furry puppy curled by the hearth
The sweet nectar of the tall Pink Sunflower
Is all the nourishment my soul will require
I am escaping from the Valley of Darkness
The Pink Sunflower is fulfilling my existence
