A Christmas Audrey

The joy of Audrey came to the world

Her birth a precious sign unfurled

She came upon a midnight clear

An infant so tender, mild, and dear

A star with royal beauty bright

On a silent and holy night

So gentle, so pure, and so sweet

Angels worshipping at her feet

Hark! The herald angels sing!

Her wondrous story to us they bring

Which they chant in hymns of joy

Sing choirs of angels, don’t be coy!

Strike the harp and join the chorus

Sing with exultation before us!

Follow me in merry measure

Come all ye, let us adore her!

This woman is Love’s pure light

Her sunbeams chase away the night

The stars in the sky today

Look down upon where she lay

Prepare her room, oh my heart

Bearing gifts I traverse afar

Let heaven and nature sing

With angelic strains echoing

Happiness found a million ways

Cheeks aglow and heart ablaze

To all she brings life and light

Death’s dark shadows put to flight

All is calm, your peace we keep

In thy deep and dreamless sleep

How still we see thee lie

As the silent stars go by

Now the rude winds coldly blow

A gust of life’s bitter weather

Seems the night is darker now

And the winds blow stronger

Fails my heart I know not how

I can go on any longer

With life’s crushing load in tow

Every other step I falter

Walk in my steps said she the sage

Tread thou in them boldly

Thou shalt find the winter’s rage

Freezes thy blood less coldly

In my Princess’ steps I trod

Where life’s snow lay dinted

Heat was in the very sod

Which the saint had printed

Long lay my world in sin and error

Till she appeared and made my soul better

A thrill of hope my weary soul rejoices

Yonder breaks a morn, new and glorious

I believe for every drop of rain a flower grows

I believe in the darkest night a candle glows

I believe for everyone who goes astray

Someone will come to show the way

The hopes and dreams of many a year

Are met in thee tonight, my dear

I ask thee to stay by me forever close

While cuddling under the mistletoes

I will kiss you with love tonight

And if you hold me really tight

The rest of my life will be warm

With blessed memories of your charm

You are in my soul, never to part

The best gift under the Christmas tree

With love, from the bottom of my heart

Feliz Navidad, Princess Audrey
